A partir du 1er janvier 2022, le doublement de l'assiette des dépenses relatives aux opérations de recherche confiées à des organismes publics est supprimé dans le cadre du Crédit Impôt Recherche (CIR). Pour que cette mesure n'entraine pas une baisse de collaboration avec ces organismes, un nouveau crédit d'impôt a été mis en place. Sont concernés les contrats signés entre le 1er janvier 2022 et le 31 décembre 2028.
