Deze opdracht heeft tot doel begeleiding te bieden aan vrijwillige gemotiveerde landbouwers uit de gemeente die zich willen engageren in de agro-ecologische transitie. Agro-ecologische praktijken zorgen voor een vorm van landbouw die de bodem herstelt, die milieuvriendelijker is en meer economische veerkracht geeft voor het landbouwbedrijf. Tegelijkertijd geeft het grote voordelen voor de inwoners van Herent, met verkleining van bodemerosie en bijhorende wateroverlast, bevorderen van biodiversiteit en de verfraaiing van het landschap. Deze begeleiding wordt aangeboden door het gemeentebestuur van Herent, in samenwerking met Kick Belgium vzw en Farming for Climate vzw. Dit programma biedt landbouwers een veilig kader om nieuwe praktijken en teelten uit te testen, de kwaliteit en structuur van de bodem te verbeteren, inkomensdiversificatie aan te moedigen en de economische leefbaarheid van de bedrijven op lange termijn te versterken.
