Preliminary Scope of Work: The project comprises the implementation of a turnkey 10 MW / 20 MWh AC-coupled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) connected to the public grid via an existing 20 kV grid connection point at an adjacent MV/HV substation in 74821 Mosbach, Germany. At the grid connection point, the storage is supposed to deliver a power of 7.5 to a maximum of 10 MW and have a capacity of 2 to a maximum of 3 hours. The BESS should preferably be based on lithium-ion or sodium-ion battery technology and designed for commercial operation in the German electricity market. The possible lithium-ion technologies will be specified in more detail during the tender. The system is expected to support, among others, participation in Frequency Containment Reserve, Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve, Day-Ahead and Intraday markets.
