Refoplan 2025: „Aufbau eines automatisierten Messsystems zur Bestimmung der Schadstoffbelastung in den Polargebieten“ Die Polargebiete sind trotz ihrer Abgeschiedenheit zunehmend von Schadstoffbelastungen betroffen, die sich seit vielen Jahren über Luft und Wasser global verbreiten und in den Nahrungsketten anreichern. Besonders problematisch sind persistente Stoffe wie POPs und neuere Verbindungen wie PFAS, die über weite Strecken oder durch menschliche Aktivitäten bis in die Polargebiete gelangen. Dort fehlen bislang langfristige Monitoringstrukturen, obwohl bereits diverse Schadstoffe in Schnee, Eis, Gewässern und in den empfindlichen Organismen der polaren Ökosysteme nachgewiesen wurden. Eine kontinuierliche und langfristige Umweltüberwachung ist daher dringend erforderlich. Nur so lassen sich Belastungstrends erkennen und Gegenmaßnahmen wirksam gestalten. Der wissenschaftliche Ausschuss für Antarktisforschung (SCAR) hat die Vertragsparteien des Antarktis-Vertrags aufgefordert, ihr
