De opdracht heeft betrekking op het ontwikkelen van een monitoringsmethodiek voor vernattingspraktijken (natte natuur) in Vlaanderen, als voorbereiding op de toepassing van het Europese Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming Framework (CRCF) binnen een toekomstige vrijwillige koolstofmarkt. De studie richt zich uitsluitend op de CRCF-categorie "vernatting en herstel van veengebieden en andere organische bodems" (natte natuur) en niet op andere vormen van carbon farming, permanente koolstofverwijdering of koolstofopslag in materialen. De opdrachtnemer onderzoekt hoe vernattingsprojecten in Vlaanderen op een betrouwbare, kostenefficiënte en schaalbare manier kunnen worden gemonitord zodat de resultaten kunnen worden gebruikt voor Monitoring, Rapportering en Verificatie (MRV) binnen het Europese CRCF-kader. Deze opdracht is een opdracht voor diensten in de zin art. 2, 21° van de Wet inzake overheidsopdrachten van 17 juni 2016.
