Mystery shopping

What actually happens to a customer, documented — including the receipt. A verified person goes through the scenario you define as an ordinary customer, records each step against your criteria, and where relevant makes the purchase and keeps the receipt. What is documented is the interaction,

The problem

Service standards are written down and then not followed, and the people best placed to notice are the ones least likely to report it. Surveys measure who bothers to answer; they do not measure what happened.

How HumanOps answers it

A verified person goes through the scenario you define as an ordinary customer, records each step against your criteria, and where relevant makes the purchase and keeps the receipt. What is documented is the interaction, not the person serving.

Questions

Is mystery shopping legal?

In Spain and across the EU, buying as an ordinary customer and reporting the experience is lawful. We refuse anything requiring deception that causes harm, and we never document an identifiable employee as an individual.
