QuiescenceUptime, for site owners
If this name is in your logs, someone who proved they control your site asked Uptime Monitor to tell them when it goes down. Here is exactly what it does.
How to recognise it
Every request carries this User-Agent:
QuiescenceUptime/1.0 (+https://quiescence.eu/uptime-monitor/bot)
It comes from these addresses:
51.77.67.1672001:41d0:700:25a7::1
What it requests
- The one page the site's owner chose, with a plain GET, at most once a minute and usually far less often.
- The verification file, about once a day, to confirm the owner's permission still stands.
- Only the first 64 KB of an answer, and it keeps only the status, the timing and the kind of error.
What it never does
- It never crawls links, submits forms, sends credentials or scans ports.
- It never checks a site whose owner has not placed the verification file at its root.
- It never stores the content of your pages.
How to stop it
Remove the verification file (quiescence.eu.txt, or the line in robots.txt). Monitoring
stops after it has been found missing twice, about a day apart. For anything else, write to
info@quiescence.eu.
