Research Area 2 beinhaltet die Interaktion des Anwenders mit einem (halb)autonomen und heterogenen Roboterschwarm in Bezug auf Steuerung und Kontrolle. Es soll untersucht werden, wie viel Kontrolle nötig und sinnvoll ist, damit einerseits der Schwarm nicht in der effizienten Ausführung von Aufgaben beeinträchtigt wird. Andererseits jedoch muss die Flut an Informationen so aufbereitet werden, dass der Anwender jederzeit über alle wichtigen Abläufe aufgeklärt ist und im Bedarfsfall die Steuerung übernehmen kann.
